Vision Quest in Peru

When travelling to South America make sure that Peru is part of your agenda. The sights and sounds of Peru are not as glamorous or showy as those in Brazil and Argentina but Peru contains many of the attractions that are the closest to the spiritual heart of the continent including the sacred spot known as Macchu Piccu.  This is the very soul of the ancient Inca civilization.

To visit Macchu Piccu it is recommended that you do it on foot by navigating the famous Inca trail. This takes you up through the jungle and rain forest, across old bridges and across the stepped terraces.  You can also walk through tunnels that were somehow tunneled out of solid rock by the Incas.

Peru is a very poor country and in that way you can benefit spiritually from visiting there. It helps you put your own life in perspective and consider how lucky you really are in life.  There are even people called “pagos a ala tieraa” who are available to you to help you do a good deed in the name of Mother Earth. You are presented with a mission and must fulfill it to make life for Peruvians and the rain forest a bit better.

While in Peru be sure to visit the Nazca Lines. You can book a plane or helicopter trip that takes you over these desert markings that are in the shapes of spiders, lizards and astronauts. These pictures that can only be seen from the air are said to be mes

ssages to the aliens that may have founded the Inca civilization in the first place.

In Cusco there is an ancient wall that you may want to visit that is a miracle of architectural construction. The cut boulders in this prehistoric wall fit together exactly without the aid of mortar. The complex of Sacsayhuaman itself is in the shape of a enormous Puma.

If you are a seeker then the ideal time to visit Peru is in the last quarter of the year when it is less crowded. Many people go to Peru between June and August which is the dryer peak season.  If you go at this time you will have no problem booking taxis or adventures as the buses tend to be less packed at this time. Just be sure to bring a variety of clothing that you can layer as it tends to get very hot during the day and then extremely cold at night in this country.
