Hike and Party for Weeks in the Ontario Provincial Park System

The sprawling province of Ontario in Canada is is home to more than 275 provincial parks that cover a combined area of 17.5 million acres (7.1 million hectares). Most of it is parkland. Yet at the same time it is also home to several big bustling cities including Toronto, Ottawa (the nation’s capital) and Niagara Falls.

Most of the great campsites and motels on coastal strips located along waterways. The first coastal strip runs west from Toronto along Lake Ontario all of the way to Niagara Falls. On the way you can visit Art Gallery of Hamilton, a Butterfly museum and the vineyards of the Niagara-On-The-Lake wine producing regions.

There are also many fantastic hotels to stay at in Niagara Falls. As the Canadian Niagara Falls is the honeymoon capital of the world you will have no problem finding a bed and breakfast that features a heart shaped tub.

The other big strip of Ontario B&B’s runs from Toronto in the other direction east and follows the edge of the lake to Kingston where it turns into the St. Lawrence River. It is here that you will find yourself in the heart of the beautiful Thousand Islands that is famous for whale watching and diving for remains of sunken ships. This incredible place stretches all the way from Kingston through to Brockville to Prescott. It also has lots of history in the form of old battlements, antique shops and ancient cemeteries. The shoreline is also lined with numerous public parks that allow diving and swimming of the area’s salmon pink rocks.

If you are more urban minded you might enjoy staying in one of Ottawa’s bed and breakfast’s, which is close to the country’s parliament as well as the Rideau Canal (which is one of the world’s longest skating canals in the winter.)

The city of Toronto, known for its Broadway style theater, the CN Tower and the Art Gallery of Ontario also has many bed and breakfasts tucked away in the civilized neighborhoods. If there is one thing that Toronto is known for it is its great mix of affordable, ethnic restaurants so if you stay in the city you are likely steps away from any cuisine that you choose including Indian, Chinese, Californian, Japanese, Tibetan and Italian.

North in the province are an incredible number of small towns, parks and ancient Indian sites. There are many adventures for Dudes to have visiting the area of Bruce Peninsula and Manitoulan Island as well.
