Colorado is one of the most exciting places to visit entire United States. Most of the action is clustered around Aspen, which are a famous skiing resort and also the site of the U.S. Comedy festival. In this mountainous retreat, which originally began as mining community, you will find bed and breakfasts in old brownstones, Swiss chalets and more modern style homes. Many of them have working fireplaces in their room to fit in with the “ski bunny” image of the place. This is the perfect place to bring a real babe for a seductive holiday complete with bearskin rug and a fire roaring in the fireplace.
You will also love the hiking at the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument that is located in a mountain valley. This area showcases huge petrified redwoods and detailed fossils of ancient origin that date back to almost 35 million years ago. If you love natural science then you will love this place. There are many campsites here but it is very cool to camp off-site in the wild woods; just watch out for coyotes and bears.
In the low lands of Colorado you can also find the Great Sand Dunes National Park, which spans two of the states counties –Alamosa County and Saguache County, Colorado, United States. The town of Alamosa also has many great campsites and inns.
The city of Denver is the most populated city in Colorado. Denver is nicknamed “The Mile-High City” because its official elevation (marked on the steps of the Colorado State Capitol) is one mile above sea level. Denver is home to many nationally recognized museums, including the Denver Art Museum. Be sure to tour one of the vibrant neighborhoods such as LoDo, filled with art galleries, restaurants, bars and clubs. Colorado is mainly known for its beef, potato and its garlic, so many of the restaurants serve delicious dishes created with these ingredients.
Colorado is also home to many agricultural and food shows including the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver, the Strawberry Festival in Glenwood Springs (which is over 110 years old) and the Food and Wine Classic In Aspen Colorado. It is definitely fun place foodies whether you are into the rustic dishes, prepared game or the more exotic fusion cuisines. There are also many wonderful microbreweries in Colorado that have tastings and that also have their own bars.
